Many of the teens tend too much on burgers, potato chips and wafers while watching TV. Do you realize that such dietary habits can increase your susceptibility to high BP later in your life? Teens have a habit of dining out. This would result in caloric catastrophe so learn how to order with your waistline in mind.
Battle of bulge can be made easy for teens provided if they have the necessary commitment and apply your brain in dietary habits. high fat diet will make you put on more weight than a diet low on fat, even if both diets has same number of calories. This is because dietary fats turn into body fat much faster than dietary carbohydrates or proteins. So if your excess calories come from a serving of potato wedges or scoop of ice cream, the fat from these products zoom right into your fat cells. However, if the excess fats comes from the rice or dal or chicken without skin your body them just the attempt to turn into fat.
First know about the hunger mechanism. There are many theories are floating around to describe about hunger mechanism. The most prominent glucose theory states that when the body has sufficient levels of glucose in the blood, there are no physical internal hunger signals. As blood glucose levels fall to the point where the body needs to replenish, the brain sends signals for acid secretion to begin in the stomach in preparation for the ingestion and digestion of food. We feel this in a variety of ways as emptiness, acid or "sounds" etc. If we ignore the signal the body stops acid production and hunger goes away for about an hour. The second signal is deeper as the body’s way of saying, "hey dude, it’s time for lunch." But this is not about discussing the hunger mechanism instead it’s about why not to eat.
If you’re really hungry you should eat. You shouldn’t just eat because you have nothing else to do. Many teens eat out of boredom. Psycho hunger is a peculiar condition when your mind fools you or you misinterpret the signals sent to you as hunger. This has an effect in the person’s psychology also. They have a tendency to suffer for smallest of issues. They have usually a low morale and self confidence and unable to trust them. This is because he or she is unable to use his own mechanisms and instead resort to taking help from others.
Fight it don’t succumb to it.
Exercise and activity is also important part of weight loss routines. It helps to use up the calories stored in the body fat besides tones up the muscles. Exercises will help to expend more energy and prevent increase in body weight. For example, walking 3 miles a day will require 300 KCal. It is significant to spend atleast 1 active hour per day rather than watching TV programs.
Join some Regular exercise program including aerobic activity. Do something you enjoy and look forward to. The activity doesn’t need to be an aerobic class instead it could be cycling, walking inline/ice skating.

1Your point about drinking water before a meal is a valid one and a solution i’ve seen a lot of late. By filling up on fluid first you really do help to reduce your hunger and hence eat less during the meal!
